3. Health Disclaimer and Liability Waiver

Movement Principles classes use guided instruction and improvisation. Somatic movement education can provoke shifts of feeling, sensation and memory. Classes emphasize conscious awareness of movement experience/sensation, tension-release, creative exploration and the re-patterning of coordination. You are responsible for your physical and psychological safety and comfort at all times. Somatic movement education is process orientated, and your personal aims and goals will inform how you work. You are invited to pause, adapt and modify as you wish within the flow of a class. Material is guided from Alexandra Baybutt’s rhythm and bodily condition with the knowledge that these will be different to class participants. These classes are intended to be accessible because of the expectation underpinning somatic movement education that you have full agency and autonomy in exploring the propositions and principles in your own way. It is expected that you will adapt any of material facilitated in these classes in accordance with your aims and the general state of your bodymind at the time of undertaking the class, irrespective of experience, ability and skill level. Those who use a wheelchair or other mobility aids are welcome to these classes.

If you are pregnant, Movement Principles classes need adaptation in accordance with the guidelines for exercise during pregnancy as stipulated by the National Childbirth Trust UK charity. Yoga and Movement for Pregnancy classes are specifically designed for pregnancy. See guidance notes here https://www.nct.org.uk/pregnancy/exercise-and-fitness/exercise-during-pregnancy-what-know

Participation if pregnant in Movement Principles classes and Yoga and Movement for Pregnancy can take place after twelve (12) weeks. Class would be undertaken sitting or standing. Recommendations are that you would not lie on your back, not lie on your front, not lie on your right side, avoid forward folding, avoid back-bending, avoid twisting, relax rather than contract the muscles of the abdomen, do not hold the breath, do not do deep stretches and avoid being in one position for long. Please seek advice from your medical practitioner/midwife if in any doubt.

Whilst classes can be suitable as part of injury and trauma recovery, they are not a substitute for medical expertise, advice, diagnosis and treatment. Alexandra Baybutt recommends you speak with your medical provider before participating in this movement class if you are in doubt. If you feel pain or disturbance, stop what you are doing. Please listen to your body and seek medical advice if you have any concerns about your individual bodymind needs. No information in this video is to be interpreted as medical or health advice. By voluntarily participating in these movement education classes, you do so at your own risk and assume all risk of injury yourself. You agree to release Alexandra Baybutt from all liability pertaining to any injuries or issues.

By registering, you agree that you have read and fully understand and agree to the above terms of this Liability Waiver Agreement. You validate this agreement voluntarily and recognise that your affirmation serves as a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law in the United Kingdom.
